Vir Das Sounds of India in Chennai: 31 October 2026, Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Hall

Vir Das’s new stand-up show, Sounds of India, is billed as a comedy tour built around the everyday sounds of the country. It reaches Chennai on Saturday 31 October 2026 at the Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall in Chetpet, between the Ahmedabad show on 24 October and Goa on 21 November.

The Venue

The Mutha Venkatasubba Rao hall on Harrington Road is an indoor, seated concert hall, a good room for stand-up because everyone can see the stage.

Getting to Chetpet

• Suburban train: Chetpet station, on the Beach–Tambaram line, is the nearest rail stop. From there it’s a short auto ride to Harrington Road.
• Car or cab: Harrington Road and the lanes around Chetpet are residential. Street parking fills quickly on a Saturday evening, so a cab drop at the gate is the easier option.
• MTC bus: use the planner in the Chennai bus routes guide with Chetpet or Harrington Road as the destination.

31 October is also the weekend before Deepavali (8 November), so shopping traffic around T. Nagar and Purasawalkam will be heavy. Leave extra time if you are coming from that side.
